My experience

Writer/reporter: Creating compelling, interview-based or research-based content to meet the need of various magazines and clients

Managing editor: Planning, orchestrating and editing all content for a particular magazine issue or project, while coordinating the work of contributing freelancers

Book editor: Bringing out the best in a manuscript, whether as an early editor or the final, eyes-on proofreader

Coach: Leading workshops to train other writers and editors — via my “Write Your Life Lessons” online course and various live and online workshops

My work has shaped:

    • travel writing — Ethiopian Airlines’ inflight magazine
    • relief-and-development communications — World Vision and Preemptive Love
    • higher-ed communications — University of Virginia, Seattle Pacific University and Duke Divinity School
    • faith-based nonprofit communications — Cru and the Evangelical Free Church of America
    • cultural/governmental projects — U.S. Postal Service publications
    • … and multiple author memoirs

In 2022, my freelance article “The Seeds of a Martyr” won second place at the Evangelical Press Association’s annual contest (see page 54 in ISSUU).
